Willing & Able

I’ve heard the term willing and able used so many times. I don’t think I grasped the fact that sometimes we are one or the other. Some of us rarely get to being both at the same time. Partially, I think it requires too much of us. We are willing to help, but we don’t have the time or resources. We are able, but don’t have the follow through. Truly being willing and able is about a resolve. You have to decide to make yourself available and open to whatever the universe needs from you. You must recognize that you are merely a conduit. You are a vessel. You are a steward. Ask yourself…are you willing? Are you able? Are you willing and able?

God is Able

Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.

I'm at the place in my life where I have experienced "above all I can think or ask." I have learned to pray big prayers. I have an expectation built on big faith. I have experienced God's love in the valley. I have felt his comfort in seasons of loneliness, and I've learned that God is still in control and more importantly, God is able. My life, my dreams, my aspirations are nothing without God's ability. It is not through my strength, but His. It is not through my power, but His. Trust that God can do the exceedingly abundant in your life. God is able.

Willing

Are you willing? Are you able? Are you ready? Sometimes, the major decisions in our life have more to do with our mindset than our capabilities. We weren't there yet. We couldn't wrap our mind around it. We weren't mature enough. We hadn't lived long enough. We didn't trust God enough. We didn't trust ourselves enough. Our faith was shaken. We were scared. We were afraid. It happens, but in order to get where God wants us to be, we have to assuage our doubts and fears. We have to take the first step. We have to be willing.
