Vantage Point

noun. a position or place that affords a wide or advantageous perspective; viewpoint: to survey a valley from the vantage point of a high hill.

God sits high but looks low. He’s got the whole world in his hands. God has always had divine perspective on our lives, and maybe that can be attributed to his vantage point. I’m sure if we had his view of creation, we might feel differently about our circumstances too. We might not sweat the small stuff. We might not worry as much. We might not stress as much because we could see the big picture instead of the moment. There is a lot going on in the world, and probably a lot going on in your world as well. Remember, that God still sits high. Remember that trouble don’t last always. Remember, this too shall pass. Remember, that your perspective might change if you choose a different vantage point.

Refresh

Do not discount how much a change of scenery can do for your mental health. I had a quick weekend getaway, and I feel like I can conquer the world. The walls aren’t closing in on me as much. The monotony isn’t too much. The routine is a bit easier to get through. I feel refreshed. What have you done today for your mental health? What would make you feel refreshed? Maybe it’s a walk or a run. Maybe it's spending time in the yard. Take care of yourself. Relax. Relate. Refresh.

Lamp

In times like these, it’s hard to know the right path. The future seems uncertain. Every news story is doom and gloom. Faith comes hard. Reality hits harder. Fear is everywhere. Doubt is easy. Unbelief seems like the normal. God never said it would be easy. God never said you would always be sure. God never said you wouldn’t have your skepticism. God never said you would always have the answers. He did say that his word would be a lamp. You only need a lamp when it’s dark. So, know that you have light during these dark times. You still can trust the word of God to be a lamp.

Psalm 119:105  (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Home

“Home is where the heart is.” We have all heard these words, and there is some truth to them. Home is not just a building. It’s where you feel loved. It’s where memories are made. It’s where you feel safe. It’s not just a city. It’s where your people reside. Where is your village? Where do you feel secure? Where do you feel protected emotionally and physically? That’s your home. Home is where you can heal. Home is where you are free. Home is where your heart can reside without fear. Home is where your heart is…

Position

I heard a sermon where the preacher said, “your blessings are waiting on you to get in position.” God has preset blessings in place for you. When you arrive at a certain place and time, your blessing is waiting for you. So, due season is about positioning. Where you are in this journey matters. It matters how old you are. It matters where you live. It matters what condition your heart is in. It matters how much baggage you are carrying. It matters if you’ve forgiven. You have to be in place. It matters if you are healed, because you have to be position. Get in position.

In Everything Give Thanks

I was reminded that trouble don’t last always. We all have struggles. We all have strife. We all have thorns in our life. This life does not come without its share of disappointments and tragedies, as well as joyful and momentous occasions. In everything, give thanks. When things are plenty and when things are lacking, give thanks. When life is good and when life is disappointing, give thanks. When you’re not sure and doubt seems like the only way, give thanks. When you know if it was nothing but God, give thanks.

Thank God

Tomorrow many of us will sit around a table filled with culinary classics expressing our gratitude. Thank God. Thank God for the ability to share a meal with loved ones. Thank God for provision. Thank God for his miraculous healing. Thank God for his unmerited favor. Thank God for unanswered prayers. Thank God for detours. Thank God for unexpected blessings. Thank God for daily bread. Thank God for protection. Thank God for peace of mind. Thank God for a hedge of protection. Thank God for your functioning faculties. Thank God for increase. Thank God in all things.
