Too Little Too Late
Too Little Too Late. These words can sum up a variety of situations. These words can describe a past relationship, friendship, or even our current political climate. When we are on the receiving end, it is hard to comprehend. It may seem like a disconnect or a lack of communication. In the midst of a pandemic, these words resonate even more. Our government has done too little too late in terms of how they have handled this virus. What other areas of your life have you experienced too little too late? What adjustments have you made? What resolve have you come to? Remember that you can always change your response to even others lack of initiative.
Too Blessed to Be Stressed
I know it's hard to imagine calling yourself blessed with everything that is going on in the world, but I want to remind you of something….you're here. You are alive. You have everything you need in this moment. You have hope and a future. You are not forgotten. God is mindful. When I think of all the people God called blessed, it was not because their life was without calamity or pain. It was because they endured. They survived and you will too. We will count it all joy. We are too blessed to be stressed.
1 Peter 5:7 Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
Too Much
I think we’ve all said it. I think we’ve all felt it, especially this year. “God, this is too much!” I know I have felt that way more often than not. I have questioned if my lot was more than I can bear. I have questioned my own strength and God’s sovereignty. I have questioned God. It seems like everything is coming full force all at once with no breathing room. I’ve got more complaints than praise reports. Everything seems like doom and gloom. Headlines are straight out of Revelations. I don’t think I can take anymore. Guess what? I do. I take it one hour at a time. One day at a time. One week at a time. I threw my expectations out of the window. I revamp my “to do" list. I re-prioritize my day. I realize that some things can actually wait. The house isn’t that dirty. I have more clothes to wear, if everything doesn’t get washed. We will still eat if I don’t cook. And finally, I’m stronger than I thought. I’m not in control of anything. God is my source. Some lessons are harder than others. Some days are easier than others. Sometimes, God reminds us that our too much is not too much for Him.
Ain’t nothing like the real thing
There is no substitution for certain things in life. Go sugarless. Try salt-free. Become a vegan. Don't get me wrong, all of those things are great, but you know like I know ain’t nothing like the real thing. Yes, you can live without it. Life may even require you to do so, but authenticity is everything. It's amazing how much we accept substitutes in our life. We are comfortable with counterfeits. Most of us can’t tell the real from the fake. Trust me when I say, when you come across someone and or something genuine….ain’t nothing like the real thing.
Ain’t my fault
I’m big on accountability because I’ve seen what lack of accountability looks like in a person’s life. I’ve heard people make excuses for justifiable actions. It doesn't make it right. You can do wrong for the right reasons, but it doesn't make it any less wrong. People make excuses when they are trying to justify their wrongdoing. Hold yourself to a higher standard. Hold yourself accountable. Stop saying, “it ain’t your fault,” when it is or when you are a part of the problem. Be a part of the solution. Change begins with you.
It ain’t over
I know what it looks like. It looks pretty bleak. It looks like an uphill battle. It looks like there is no hope. It looks like you've finally hit rock bottom. There isn’t a visible lifeline. It may be hard to believe. All of the signs are pointing in a different direction. I just wanted to remind you, it ain’t over.
Blessed in the City
Deuteronomy 28:3 You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.
I’ve always been a Fred Hammond fan. One of my favorite songs by him is “No Weapon.” However, “Blessed” is a close second. We all need a little inspiration. We all need a little hope. We all need a little encouragement, So despite your current circumstances, I want to remind you that you are blessed. You are blessed in the city. You are blessed in the field. You are blessed when you come and when you go. You are blessed when you don’t feel like it. You are blessed when it doesn’t look like it. Be encouraged!
